Arrow returns with Alex Kingston.

News

Right now it's looking like we've got a series of programming dominoes at MSNBC. First, Ed Schultz announced he was starting a weekend show, then Chris Hayes was announced as the host of a new show airing in Schutlz's time slot, leaving Hayes' show Up needing a host. Yesterday, MSNBC announced that Steve Kornacki will be the new Up host. Now, there's an unfilled host's chair at The Cycle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Johnathan Capehart who was an great guest-host on The Cycle when Kornacki wasn't there.

In today's "Oh, damn it!" news, HBO went and cancelled Enlightened. Dammit.

Jane Espenson has joined the team working on that Once Upon a Time spin-off. She'll be a consulting producer, the same role she has at Once.

The upcoming season of Sherlockwill begin with its take on "The Adventure of the Empty House" but from what I gather that's an obvious choice to longtime Arthur Conan Doyle fans.

NBC's Ironside remake has added Greek alumSpencer Grammer as a police officer whose career is held back by the criminals in her family background.

Vulture's Josef Adalian asks why the broadcast networks have struggled to find a new hit reality show. Instead, they nurse along long-running shows like Survivor while cable networks keep finding new reality TV phenoms. One factor is scheduling — a lot of cable's hits can credit their success to heavy use of repeats and marathons, but another factor is that the networks mostly talk to the same producers for new shows.

Buried among Deadline's roundup of pilot guest role casting is the news that out comic Parvesh Cheena will participate in the TBS comedy pilot Do It Yourself. Meanwhile, Thomas Dekker has joined the pilot Backstrom about a misanthropic detective played by Rainn Wilson. Dekker will appear as the detective's decorator and underworld connection. TV has plenty of misanthropic detectives, why can't we have a show about a decorator-slash-underworld connection?

Deadline reports that Christina Ricci has exited the NBC pilot Girlfriend in a Coma.

In light of the news that ABC will not be airing a new season of Bachelor Pad this season, EW begs them to reconsider, saying that the show provides a valuable public service, like Scared Straight, "Bachelor Pad is a cautionary tale, one that paints a vivid picture of the degrading horrors waiting for those who seek to fill the void in their soul by appearing on a reality TV show." Yeah, that made me laugh but I still won't be watching.

Anderson Live (syndicated)Check local listings
Anderson's spending another day with Snooki and Jwoww because... oh, I don't know, poor taste? The unforgiving demands of daytime TV? For better (he does improve the line-up) or worse (he gives me a reason to watch Snooki and Jwoww), today's episode also has Matthew Rhys.

Days of Our Lives (NBC) Check local listings
Will may or may not be showing up in today's episode, but there's babydrama at the least as Nick has something to tell Gabi about Will.

Arrow (CW) 8:00 PM ET
I've spent three seasons hoping Doctor Who would be inspired to combine the roguish charms of Captain Jack and River Song. The TARDIS never traveled in that direction, but Arrow gets a lot closer to making me happy as Alex Kingston shows up as Dinah Lance.

Supernatural (CW) 9:00 PM ET
Things were so niche for a little while, but now Crowley is resurfacing. He's chasing down relics and committing torture to remind us how bad he is. At least, this episode also brings back Meg who was kinda fun once she became a grumpy, sarcastic part of the Team Winchester.

Suburgatory (ABC) 9:30 PM ET
How does Dallas deal with disappointment when things don't go well on George's birthday? Carbs. For some of us, that sounds like a day ending in a y.

Southland (TNT) 10:00 PM ET
It's a no-good really bad day for Cooper, one bad enough that he hopes Hicks can offer some wise words to put it all in perspective. Unfortunately, I think Cooper's mixed up Hicks with one of those mentor figures from a sitcom like, say, Major Dad.

It's a Brad Brad World (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
It's another busy half-hour for Brad and the team, as they style Rashida Jones and transgender model Connie Fleming.

Workaholics (Comedy Central) 10:00 PM ET
For the third season finale, the guys encounter the phone operator's natural enemy — the automated phone system. Are we getting ready for Workaholics to have a different setting than TelAmeriCorp? Unless that means that Jillian and Alice are going to implausibly follow them to their new jobs, I'm hoping not. I'm sure I can expect these guys to mess things up somehow.

The Americans (FX) 10:00 PM ET
You had to know Phillip's bit of ex sex would come to light, making things even tenser in his marriage. But adding to the tension, it comes amid a battle to save a bunch of scientists from an assassin.

Tomorrow's Preview

Anderson Live (syndicated) Check local listings
Marilu Henner is Anderson's co-host tomorrow. I'd say it's good to see him go back to having a performer as co-host, but doesn't The Celebrity Apprentice make her a reality TV star? Meanwhile, Fran Drescher also visits.

The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated) Checkk local listings
Megan Hilty will be talking with Wendy about her new album and Smash.

Days of Our Lives (NBC) Check local listings
Sami suggests Will consider turning to the evil mastermind in his family for help with child custody issues. We're definitely planning a liveblog for this one.
