- My Destiel loving darlings, what a week you guys had! I am honestly losing count of how many times the power of love saves those two. Castiel is directed through psychological molding and practice to kill Dean? Defies those orders as soon as Dean pleads, “Cas. I know you’re in there. I know you can hear me. Cas… It’s me. We’re family. We need you. I need you.”
Really guys, it couldn’t be more canon, it just couldn’t.
- Let’s get our royal gear on because Game of Thrones returnsthis week on Sunday March 31st. I’m still mourning my king Renly, but at least we still have Loras.
- Just a few more days until Doctor Who returns! Tumblr is slowly but surely returning to its Whovian glory in preparation for this Saturday, March 30th.
All Aboard the Hogwarts Express!
Previously we’ve mentioned the phenomenon of ‘crossover’ where fans will mix and match characters, plot devices, and entire universes to create new possibilities. A personal favorite of mine is getting characters from any and all fandoms to Hogwarts.
The truth is that Hogwarts is welcoming and exciting and it’s home. No matter how “real world” or supernatural a universes your characters come from , they will find the place in the magical castle. They will learn convenient little plot device spells and make friends and (possibly most importantly) be sorted into their Houses.
The French Revolution can be found in Gryffindor House, of course. Check out my Les Miserables OTP Grantaire and Enjolras with little Gavroche hanging out.

Maybe it’s the familiarity a lot of fans from across the fandoms have with the Harry Potter universe and the myriad of fanfic and fanart opportunities to be found when you put Sherlock in Ravenclaw and Loki in Slytherin I mean some people just sort themselves you know?
Besides, there are all those convenient broom closets we all seem so sure are just perfect for a romantic rendezvous, is it really any wonder this is one of the favorite playgrounds of cross over fans?

Fanartist of the Week: Lettiebobettie
I fell in love with this artist’s work just a few days ago and, as fate would have it, she’s sent her adorable renditions of Castiel and Dean Winchester to Hogwarts. Aren’t they precious? This is really a prime example of shipping our ships off to the Wizarding World where things may go wrong but love always prevails. She also happens to run a Supernatural at Hogwarts Ask blog featuring Destiel which you all should definitely check out.

Pairing of the Week: Ian/Mickey, Shameless
I don’t know if you guys remember, but awhile back when Kurt and Blaine broke up I made some statements to the effect of ‘I do not feel pain, I AM PAIN’. That pretty much describes the experience of sailing aboard the Gallavich ship. Now Shameless is one of those laugh one second, sob hysterically on the floor the next, sort of shows. But these two, they just make you want to curl up into a ball and wish upon a star.
First you have Ian Gallagher, who pulls a Matthew Lewis-style puberty stunt from Season 1 to Season 2 and goes from Little Orphan Annie stunt double to Ginger Hottie. He’s sweet, he feels deeply, and he’ll beat you up ROTC-style if you mess with him.
No one ships Gallavich like those who give them life, Noel Fisher and Cameron Monaghan.

Then you have Mickey. Mickey who, had I not been familiar with the UK version, I would NOT have seen coming. Angry, rough, and dirty, it’s a miracle you don’t have to squint too hard to appreciate the depth of his character. If I had to pick one thing I love about this show (aside from my ship) it has to be Noel Fisher’s performance, because the kid he plays is just a walking tragedy. Last week we were thrown into a moral conundrum as Mickey beat the daylights out of Ian while openly weeping. Who did I feel more for? Difficult to say.
The Gallavich fandom is a tattered and pained one, but goodness do they grasp on to every shred of hope that these two will make it. Even though rumors and spoilers urge us to wait for the worst and say goodbye to their tragic love story, we Gallavich shippers are too tough to give up.
Featured Fic: "these bones are mere accessories" by insunshine
This Mickey-centric Gallavich fic had me from the start. Why? Because it’s so true to the truth of that charcter that it takes you on a ride. A long, twisted mysterious ride. It reminds me of Inception a little bit. You know where you hope this fic will take you, but you can't be sure. Well, rest assured it ends on our beautiful ship, but I really have to say that it’s the personal journey that makes this one a keeper; a fic so well crafted that it could be thoroughly enjoyed as a piece of stand alone fiction. Please give it a read, you won't regret it.
Excerpt:
Mickey Milkovich dies on a Tuesday. It’s not a gunshot to the brain, or residual damage to his lungs. He’s not attacked in an alley or forced to beg for mercy he’ll never get.
It’s a car accident. Maximum impact while he’s in the cop car being driven home. Mickey hates—hated—cops, but after the fire at his house, after the death of his father, and the deterioration of his family, no one could blame him for being exhausted. No one could blame him for taking the ride.
His body, from what they say, is so mangled there’s not much more than teeth to identify, and his younger sister loses her mind when she hears, shattering nearly all the glass in the police station and scratching every piece of skin she can reach.
There isn’t a funeral, because Mickey wouldn’t have wanted one, but the Gallaghers throw a party, sort of. Tony and Shawnie go, because Mandy’s already been packed up to Jersey, and it’s fine, it’s better, anyway, even though Mickey would have wanted her to have a good time and get the fuck on with her life.
