I may love watching Mad Men but covering it in the listings is a pain thanks to generic episode teasers like (I kid you not) "Don launches a new campaign,""Peggy ponders taking a trip" or "Pete encounters an interesting stranger." Thus, I felt a little joy in reading Maureen Ryan's takedown of the request that TV critics receiving a screener of the season not disclose "new characters" or "new relationships."
AMC has ordered a reality pilot, Geek Out that will highlight fans who have taken their fandom to extreme heights, like the guy who built a replica of the Starship Enterprise in his apartment). While AMC's reality shows haven't worked for me, so far, this one sounds fun.

MSNBC made it official and named Ari Melber as the new Cycle co-host replacing Steve Kornacki. The few times I've tuned in to The Cycle since Kornacki left, I thought Melber looked like he was debating if he really wanted the job (usually while S. E. Cupp is speaking, of course) but I guess I was just projecting what I'd be feeling if I had to nod politely to Cupp's idea of analysis.
Nick Jr.'s late night NickMom block has ordered a sitcom, Instant Mom, which follows a party girl (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) who marries and older man with three kids (Michael Boatman).

When Leonard, Sheldon and Raj fight over a tenured position, it gets ugly quickly, especially when the ladies get involved. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that means that Amy makes the case for why she deserves tenure, too. Then again, I'm not sure how important the details are if this is the story that brings back Regina King.

Ben heads back to his hometown where he was the star of Mayo, The Teenage Mayor, the short-lived DC Comic that didn't have many readers but was so strange it still gets discussed. (Oh maybe I'm mixing it up with Prez again.) They're giving him the key to the city, but he thinks he needs to apologize for his disastrous term as mayor. Maybe he shouldn't have taken time out to fight vampires instead of running the city. (Or maybe that was Prez, too).

If Go On is going to put together Ryan and Lauren (the idea of which puts me to sleep) the show had better hurry because the group is about to throw Lauren a bachelorette party, which suggests the wedding is coming soon. I hate it when romantic comedies expect me to cheer for someone to leave a relationship that's not horrible.

We've got a MadTV reunion tonight as Josh Meyers (Ike Barinholtz's kissing partner in the classic "Gay Straight Guys" sketch) shows up as a prostitute Mindy accidentally dates. That activates all her fantasies of being Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, prompting her to plan a makeover before taking him to a dinner party.

Oh, goody, it's one of those "let's wink and nod at those tabloid rumors" episodes as Denise Richards plays Charlie's latest romance, a woman with "sexual anger" issues.

Cheryl's life away from ISIS already seems pretty crazy, so what will her brother and his girlfriend (voiced by Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schall, making all those people who watch both Bob's Burgers and Archer really uncomfortable) be like? I doubt a trip to the Bermuda Triangle will be much more normal than having a pet lynx.

Sherlock and Joan's latest case if complicated by the arrival of a Nor'easter which, based on the promotional pictures works as an excuse to dress Jonny Lee Miller in a variety of sweaters.
Hannibal (NBC) 10:00 PM ET
Under normal circumstances, I'd have a very hard time getting excited at the idea of Hannibal. Sure, Silence of the Lambs is an amazing film, but everything else with Hannibal Lecter wasn't kinda lame. But this prequel series comes from Bryan Fuller, easily one of TV's greatest writers, and it sounds like Fuller has managed a serial killer drama that breaks down the serial killer drama, stepping away from the romance that's developing for characters like Dexter Morgan or Joe Carroll. That's a much-needed step. Plus with a cast that has Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne and Caroline Dhavernas with future guest appearances from Gina Torres, Ellen Muth, Gillian Anderson, Eddie Izzard and more (a lot more), I'm incredibly excited.
Tabatha Takes Over (Bravo) 10:00 PM ET
Over five seasons, Tabatha Takes Over has slowly become my favorite Bravo series. I expected a show where Tabatha intimidates people by finding every little flaw, but the current show is one that finds entertaining ways to discuss different aspects of small business management. A new season kicks off tonight as Tabatha takes over a salon in Tennessee and I can't wait.
