Last night capped off what was one of the most underwhelming seasons of Project Runway, with a surprise (but not really) winner, and one grouchy loser. Let's take a look at each designer's collection and pick their best and worst.
I'm still trying to figure out what happened with Christopher. He was the favorite going into Fashion Week, but now that the judges have knocked him down a peg, he has an enormous chip on his shoulder. "I've been a frontrunner this whole competition. I won four challenges. They're making me feel like they're doing me a favor by moving me forward." Or maybe, Christopher ... they just weren't impressed with your collection. I know I wasn't. And I'm still not after seeing the entire set.
He really was a bitter little hottie this entire show, sniping at everyone and everything, including himself (although I did enjoy it when he called Melissa pretentious for calling her dress blood orange. "It's f*cking red!"). For her part, Melissa said he was extra feisty today - "Extra Crispy."
I think Christopher's sense of entitlement was his downfall in the finale. Well, that, and the collection.
BEST/WORST
Everyone focused on the final design (and the judges commented that while gorgeous, didn't belong in the same collection), but I like his first look, with its ragged edges and ... that thermostat top (you can gauge the temperature of the room by how much nipple you see). The second look isn't bad, but I think typifies what went wrong here. He just didn't have a cohesive game plan. He didn't have a story. It was just too jumbled.

After being raked over the coals last week for her blah collection, Melissa decided to add a bit of color, but not enough, frankly. Her only noteworthy moment on the episode was when her white gown became a potential death trap for one of her models, who could only take teeny steps lest she topple over. Instead of, oh I don't know, putting a slit in the gown, she decided to blame the shoes and do ...nothing. That's right, she sent the model down the runway, knowing a face plant was a distinct possibility.
BEST/WORST/WORST
Thankfully, Melissa got rid of those horrible inverted sleeves, and her jacket was the best thing she presented. On the flip side, AAHHHH! Is that a leather bathing suit? A leather bathing suit? I hope it comes with complimentary talcum powder. And that f*cking red blood orange design may have been the centerpiece of the collection, but I thought it was awful (on the plus side, it does come with its own headrest!)
FINAL SCORE: ELIMINATED SECOND
Fabio was brimming with confidence after his Jordan Almond collection received ooh's and aah's from the judges. He took his hippy dippy "cosmic tribalism" to a new level, and in the funniest moment of the night, his very aura sent waves through the TV screen.
WORST/WORST
I admit it, I just don't get Fabio's collection. I know some people loves the pastels and the light, breezy touch, but when I look at them, I see either "Loungewear on Wonder Woman Island," or a walk along the beach, talking into the camera about "that not-so fresh feeling."
FINAL SCORE: RUNNER UP
Well, this was unexpected. But maybe it shouldn't have been. Dmitry has been solid all season, and while he may not have had the flash or excitement of the other designers, he was consistent. And when Chris imploded, Dmitry was there with his steady hand to move in for the win (and with his leather getup he looked more than ever like one of those Euro-Vampires from those Kate Beckinsale movies).

Everyone loved his optical illusion pieces, but I thought his off-the-shoulder numbers were classic and chic.
