Who told XIII's Stuart Townsend that everyone looks cool from that angle? He doesn't need the help.

News

It sounds like Smash isn't going to back away from the showtunes for its second season, as the drama is hiring additional composers and lyricists, according to NBC chief Bob Greenblatt.

Deadline reports that TNT is close to ordering L.A. Noir as a series, and on the verge of renewing all of the series it's currently airing, (Dallas, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash).

Comedy Central has ordered three series centered around three comedians — infoMania alum Ben Hoffman (admittedly, not the infoMania alum I most want to see get a series), Last Comic Standing competitor Amy Schumer and Anthony Jeselnik, a veteran from the various Comedy Central roasts.

The NFL has pushed back the start time of its doubleheader games by ten minutes, which means East Coast viewers will have to deal with even longer delays to CBS' Sunday night line-up.

The History Channel announced the cast of its first scripted drama, Vikings, which includes former Calvin Klein model Travis Fimmel and the former Mrs. Will Schuester, Jessalyn Gilsig.

Following the success of modern fairy tales like Once Upon a Time and Grimm, producers are working on an update to Peter Pan.

Lost producer Damon Lindelof is heading to HBO with a TV series based on the novel The Leftovers, about the people still on earth after the rapture. If you ever wondered what HBO's version of Left Behind would be like, we're one step closer to getting an answer.

It's official, Charisma Carpenter has joined the cast of The Lying Game. I can't wait to see her cause more trouble.

Expect to see some religion on this season of Awkward. Creator Lauren Iungerich says she wanted to explore faith this season after kids complained that Awkward.'s only religious character was the... er, intellectually challenged Lissa.

Friday's Listings

Live! with Kelly (syndicated) Check local listings
Matthew McConaughey's here to talk up Magic Mike and distract us from calling up the theater to ask (again) if they'd mind starting the 11 AM matinee an hour or three early.

The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Wendy has NeNe Leakes on today's show. I expect NeNe will want to make sure Wendy's viewers know about The New Normal.

Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer (Current) 8:00 PM ET
If you tuned in last night to see Chely Wright, that discussion got pushed back to tonight.

XIII (Reelz) 9:00 PM ET
Have you been missing having an action show to watch on Friday nights? With Nikita, Supernatural and Grimm all on hiatus, XIII sounds like a welcome addition to the schedule. The series has Stuart Townsend as a secret agent with no memory, trying to figure out who he is and why he has these secret agent skills. He's joined by Jones (played by the faboo Aisha Tyler) who is both an ally and someone trying to figure out his secrets for her own purposes.

Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC) 10:00 PM ET
Michael Cera is this week's guest, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some magical pixie material... or an evil twin with a pencil-thin mustache.

Bunk (IFC) 10:30 PM ET
It's an episode of people who've played the game before with Kumail Nanjiani, Tom Lennon and Eugene Mirman.

Chelsea Lately (E!) 11:00 PM ET
Either I missed it or this was a last-minute addition to the schedule, but if you missed Chelsea interviewing Zach Wahls, that episode gets rerun tonight.

Yes, that's Adam Lambert on The Graham Norton Show. Grab a lozenge for later and start screaming.

Saturday's Listings

Bigfoot (Syfy) 9:00 PM ET
After giving us sharktopi, piranhaconda, mansquitos and dinocrocs a movie about bigfoot sounds like a bit of a letdown. But this one has Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams as life-long rivals along with Howard Hesseman, Sherilyn Fenn, Andre Royo and Alice Cooper. Who needs crazy monsters when you've got a cast ready to star in a reboot of My Life on the D-List?

The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 11:00 PM ET
Graham is visited by Will.I.Am, Greg Davies and Miriam Margoyles with musical guest Adam Lambert.

Twenty Twelve (BBC America) Midnight ET
BBC America has two more episodes of its Olympic mockumentary (which I haven't seen yet, I was busy re-watching the Awkward. season premiere).

This is big! Episodes has Matt LeBlanc!

Sunday's Listings

This Week with George Stephanopoulus (ABC) Check local listings
Keith Olbermann made his This Week debut back in April. Sunday he makes his second visit.

Drop Dead Diva (Lifetime) 9:00 PM ET
It was bound to happen eventually, Jane with her big heart and her model's understanding of the law, creates an international incident.

True Blood (HBO) 9:00 PM ET
Pam tries to adjust to the idea of having progeny, which sounds like a beginning of a vampire version of Mommie Dearest (pleaseohpleaseohplease).

Mrs. Eastwood and Company (E!) 10:00 PM ET
Last week's episode got me to rethink this show a little. Sure the drama is still clunky and unconvincing (I'll ignore Dina's inconsistent behavior for now) but if seeing the guys from Overtone think about how they wouldn't like to be treated the way they've treated Eddie makes a Keeping Up with the Kardashians viewer give a little more thought to issues like bullying, maybe this unrealistic reality show is worth it.

Weeds (Showtime) 10:00 PM ET
A few seasons after it ran out of ideas, Weeds is finally concluding the story of Nancy, the suburban mom-turned drug dealer with far more luck than decision-making smarts.

Episodes (Showtime)10:30 PM ET
I ended up feeling a bit mixed about the first season of Episodes. I largely liked it, even if it couldn't convince me that the show-within-the-show was a BAFTA-winning comedy that would get dragged kicking and screaming across the pond (Lyman's Boys largely came off as a strawman ideal of a show that should not be changed in the slightest). Still, as a Hollywood satire, it's a fun show and Tamsin Grieg is usually welcome on my TV (I probably should give Black Books a second chance).

What will you be watching this weekend? Please share in the comments!

Monday's Preview

Days of Our Lives (NBC) Check local listings
Missing Will and Sonny? That's fixed on Monday.
