"And now you will be hunted, one by one."
There's no getting around it ... this was a terrible episode. The designers have to use "green" materials to make a red carpet look, but all that means is that they forced the designers to try to create something un-ugly from the tackiest, ugliest swatches we've ever seen on Project Runway. We're talking sub-sub-motel curtains.
I have to give the designers credit for coming up with what they did, considering what they had to work with, but none of the final designs are what you'd call memorable. But at least they kept a sense of humor, and it's telling that the highlight of the episode was Casanova announcing that he smells, "Like a rat die in my armpit," which is a perfect metaphor.
So how did each designer do? Let's take a look.Althea - A pretty sundress, but not red carpet. In fact, none of the designs were red carpet ready, but at least this was a ... pretty sundress. I don't understand how she lost, but Althea was this week's LOSER.
My Sweet Anthony Ryan - What in the holy hell. Isaac Mizrahi said, "I'd like to know this woman." Fine, you can visit her at Bellevue. Somehow, TOP THREE
Casanova - Still not red carpet, but this ... wasn't embarrassing. SAFE
Emilio - I have to give him credit for admitting it's the sloppiest thing he's ever sent down the runway. Still, it may have been he most "red carpet" of the designs. BOTTOM THREE
Ivy - AAAAHHHHHH! Take it away. It looks like gold shrink wrap. This should been the losing design, but instead, it was just BOTTOM THREE
Joshua - Not red carpet, but this one, along with Casanova, were the best of what was shown
Laura - WINNER. Seriously? Carolyn Murphy said she'll wear the winning design on the red carpet. If we ever see her on any red carpet in this, I'll be flabbergasted.
Uli - On what red carpet would this be passable? Somehow it was the RUNNER-UP.
So Althea is auf'd, while Ivy remains, and Laura Kathleen managed to impress her idol Diane Von Furstenberg, who tried not to look aghast at most of what was shown.
