General Hospital writer Ron Carlivati wrote into Towleroad about the reaction that the new gay character on his show got,Felix Bubois and he's not terribly happy people are judging him and the character from one outing. "I am frankly appalled by the intolerance and internalized homophobia expressed in this post and in the majority of its comments. During my career, I have brought no fewer than six gay characters to daytime television: male, female, Black, White, Hispanic...all shapes and sizes. I have written coming out stories, gay bashing stories, gay marriage stories, gay parenting stories and gay love stories. I wrote the first love scene between two gay men that ever aired on daytime TV. I won a GLADD award for these stories. What exactly is it about this character that is causing such righteous indignation?"There's a lot more over at Andy's place. FYI, there's a minor spoiler over there, and he says that we learn more about Felix when he appears today on the show.

Scientists have developed contact lenses with LCD displays embedded which kind of make Google Glass look lame by comparison. These are a long way from prime time though.

Sir Richard Branson doesn't own Virgin Mobile, but the company carries his brand, and he's not happy about a controversial ad they ran that blatantly hinted at rape or murder. He reached out to the company, which has apologized and removed the ad.

Trinadad and Tobago have introduced draft language which would give GLBT rights similar to what ENDA would do in this country, and are discussing repealing the buggery laws that still exist. No one is discussing marriage equality at this point however.

Boris JohnsonIn this country, it seems like we move from one media obsession to the next, and seldom think that some major events are long lasting. My friend David Mixner recently had some minor surgery in New York City, and described the strain the hospitals are still under from Hurricane Sandy, and the remarkable acts of kindness he saw there from doctors, nurses, and first responders. It's good for your faith in humanity.

London Mayor Boris Johnson and other high profile Tories have joined the UK Freedom To Marry Campaign to help the government achieve full equality there.

Earlier this week, we brought you the story of Norway's Princess Mette-Marit traveling to India to care for the babies born to a surrogate to members of the royal staff. The New Civil Rights Movement tells us more of the fairy tale that the Princess has lived, from being a commoner, single mother who married a prince, and how she's provoking thoughts to this day.

This happened earlier in the week, but I keep forgetting to mention that a Swedish soccer team has suspended the entire team for the rest of the season for taunting the opposing team with anti-gay insults. “This kind of abuse fits neither in football nor outside the game. We are a club with 90% youth players and it must be clear that this is not in our values.”

Ke$ha says that she wishes she was a gay man. "There's just an energy to a gay man. 'It's not really comparable to any other people. You guys just exude just this happiness. Wiccan and HulklingPretty much my whole touring party, as far as, like, the dancers, it's a lot of gay, beautiful, beautiful men. And they're just gorgeous. And their love of life is amazing. They're just, I don't know, just really magical people."

Marvel is putting renewed focus into Young Avengers (new movie franchise, maybe?) in the comics, and they're calling out boyfriends Wiccan and Hulkling a “core romantic couple of Young Avengers.”

So Bauballs exist. They're a fundraiser to draw attention to testicular cancer. I already have a Mooning Santa and a naked muscle boy with a strategic sock on my tree, should I add this as well? Would my mom notice?

They're not as tacky as TruckNutz

Asher Monroe is a new artist to me, but he comes highly recommended from David Burtka and Neil Patrick Harris, and as they say, he's pretty easy on the eyes as well as the ears. This is his video for a simple song called "Why Worry."

Showtime has put out a combination trailer for their Masters of Sex series, about the famed sex researchers, and Ray Donovan, about a Hollywood fixer played by Liev Schrieber that can't keep his personal life in order. Both seem fairly well positioned for some gay content, but there's nothing in the trailer. Surely you can't make a series about Masters and Johnson without having gay content, can you?

"Weekend Update" this week paid tribute to both marriage equality and pot becoming legal in Washington, plus Seth proved himself a man after my own heart after he admitted he wasn't up for running seven marathons.

The only other sketch of note this week was "Tyler Perry Presents: Alex Cross" which wasn't really that funny to me, but it seems to have a lot of people online laughing like crazy. I'm not sure that Perry will ever be able to shed his Madea alter-ego in the minds of the viewing public, and I don't think his accountants would be happy if he tried.

This is a commercial for Turkish Airways with Kobe Bryant competing for the attention of a young boy with soccer player Lionel Messi. It's mostly notable for the weird angle on the balloon animal Kobe is holding, which makes it look like a balloon penis for a few seconds.

Echidnas are unusual animals, but I don't think I ever understood just how weird the little guys are, and neither did the announcer for this video about them. You could take some of these concepts and make one weird porn video.

George Will, a noted conservative, takes a look at the decision of the Supreme Court to look at two marriage equality cases this week, and pronounces what we all know, but few will say: The opposition to same sex marriage is literally dying. It's old people.
