"And this is what we used to capture Elena"
This week's episode was another ... oh dear, team challenge. But at least this time there were only two teams, which meant the hurt feelings, exclusion, and power tripping were more evenly spread around.
This was a Nitpicking Nina Garcia challenge, and the designers were tasked to create a cohesive collection for the working woman, with the winning team awarded a photoshoot for Marie Claire At Work.
"Team 5" has Christopher, Ven, Gunnar, Nathan and Fabio, while "Team 6" has Raul, Dmitry, Melissa, Sonjia, Alicia, and Elena. Oh i get it, Team 5 has 5 members, and Team 6 has 6 members. Really, that's the best they could come up with? Why not "Team Don't F*cking Talk To Me That Way" and "Team Drag Queen Cocktail Hour?"
Let's take a look at some highlights.
Please explain to me how Elena can be the fan favorite. Please, someone. Is there a Ukrainian voting block? Once again she spent the episode cursing to heaven, and lambasting her fellow designers .
It's kickball all over again.
Poor Raul. Squiggy is still looking for his Lenny, but it ain't never gonna happen with Christopher. He got picked last for the team challenge (which is one of the reasons I hate these let's-pick-a-team episodes, because they're always a flashback to junior high gym.) Raul spends the show totally defensive, and terrified he's going to get auf'd if he doesn't display his aesthetic. With good reason.
We get another classic Christopher face. He tells his roommates, "What do you think the challenge is going to be, because partners was a mess," and Nathan has the hilarious nonchalant audacity to respond, "Yeah, you made Andrea run away." Oh no you didn't!
The judging commences, and they give both teams a fair shot, and award the win to Melissa ... and it's sweet that she finally was recognized, but it was a bad choice. The challenge was to create something for the working woman, and while her design was gorgeous, who in the hell could actually ... work ... in this? Although, I suppose the built-in chin rest might be useful when she wants to catch a few zzz's.
Raul and Gunnar are the bottom two, and because he's too polarizing, there's no way they're going to get rid of Gunnar just yet (and he provides another classy moment when Heidi tells him he's in, and he smirks at the judges and says, "Thanks for the heart attack"). Poor Raul is once again given the axe, and manages a parting gift by telling Elena that he hates her guts and warns the other designers to watch out for her.
