  • Birthday shoutouts go to Matt Ross, who is 43, and Victoria Principal is 63.
  • Adam Levine will host Saturday Night Live on January 26th.
  • In a gimmick reeking of desperation, viewers will be able to decide the outcome of the January 14th episode of Hawaii Five-0. Fans will be able to vote online or with twitter for one of three culprits. "'I’ve always felt the most fun aspect of watching a mystery is trying to figure out whodunit,” said Hawaii Five-0 executive producer Peter Lenkov. 'Now the Hawaii Five-0 viewers will actually get the chance to tell us who they think committed the crime and we will listen.'" I think he's a little confused how a "whodunit" works.

  • The 100 Greatest Lost Hits Of The 80's countdown may be over, but every Thursday we're going to travel back again and pay tribute to an 80's tune that should have been a bigger hit. This week, it's "Like Flames" by Berlin. The faboo Terri Nunn and company were on a roll in the early 80's. Their album Pleasure Victim (a certified snicks synth-pop 80's classic) caused a stir with "Masquerade," the hilariously smutty "Sex (I'm A ...)," and of course, "The Metro." 1984 saw the release of Love Life, which contained their first Top Forty hit, "No More Words," and the sublime "Now It's My Turn." Then came 1986, and the new wave schmaltz of "Take My Breath Away," which both made and destroyed Berlin. The album Count Three And Pray came and went quickly, and the band was dropped from their label. Sadly, the album's rousing single "Like Flames" wasn't given a chance, peaking at a lousy #82 in November 86.

  • Continuing the 50 Greatest 80's TV Theme Songs/Openings!, Here's #24, Falcon Crest.
  • Airing on CBS from December 4, 1981 – May 17, 1990, Falcon Crest was originally derided as "Dallas With Grapes," but quickly carved out its own niche in the early 80's primetime soap glut, thanks to tough-as-nails matriarch Jane Wyman and heartthrob Lorenzo Lamas (not to mention hot ginger Billy Moses).
