Where the hell are they?

After last week's shock that Josh created something decent enough to force the show to keep him in the competition, would he defy the odds again and make it to the final three?

No.

But he did force a runoff with Uli, which was a surprising and actually suspenseful turn of events (and which Uli dubbed "The Hunger Games.")

The challenge this episode is to design a couture gown. They get more money than they've ever had, plus a trip to Paris to find inspiration at the House Of Valentino. Needless to say, they are ecstatic, but I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to see any of the plane ride over. I can't be the only one wondering ... Coach? Given Lifetime's budget, I think the odds are pretty good. And I have a terrible vision of Anthony Ryan being stored in the overhead compartment.

Speaking of Anthony Ryan, he had the two best moments of the night, when he was worried that his model was going to look like "Tarzan, The Warrior Princess," and when he was so happy about going to Paris, he shouted out, "I need a couch to jump on!" Silly Anthony, Katie Holmes was last week.

Runner Up Moment: After receiving tickets to the Valentino runway show, Josh says, "I'm like a straight guy at a baseball game!"

Let's take a look at how each of the designers fared!

ANTHONY RYAN - Anthony wins his umpteenth challenge, and I thought this was deserving. It was well-detailed, although it doesn't look as divine from afar. But he received the usual ISSAC BONER™, so it's on to the final!

EMILIO - I would have been just as happy with Emilio winning. This was one of the best things he's done all season In fact, now I think about it, this should have won. That fabric was stunning, and he did something beautiful with it.

JOSHUA - It was time. This didn't work at all. At all. It looks like while everyone else went to Paris, France, Josh went to Fabric City in Paris ... Texas. The top might have worked, but that floral bottom is all wrong.

ULI - This didn't work me for either, especially the lining and the netting. But I have to say that the styling for this model was truly atrocious. That hair is appalling. It looks the Queen in Aliens.

So Anthony and Emilio are in the finals, and to pick the third finalist, the judges give Uli and Josh one more challenge. They have to create an entirely new design from their couture design, and they can only use whatever leftover scraps they had, and they have one hour to do it. Oh, and they have to do it on the runway

Surprise! The judges like the new designs much more than the originals, and I agree. As guest judge Cynthia Rawley says, Uli gave the judges a big "F*ck You" by taking what they liked least about her original design (the lining) and making it the centerpiece. As for Josh ... as far as i can see, he basically just shortened that giant botanical garden, which helped immeasurably.

But, unsurprisingly, Josh is given the boot, which means next week's final is Anthony, Emilio, and Uli ... which is what we've been expecting for weeks.

So ... who do you think will take the prize? And please spare a thought for poor Josh. He's probably still rowing a dinghy back to the U.S.
