"Let's face it, I'm tired!"
It's the final episode! Would it provide any surprises?
No.
Actually, that's not true. There was one huge surprise. The designers are told they have four days to create their final mini-collections, but they don't have to to go it alone. All of the eliminated designers are brought back, and each finalist gets to pick one to help them get to the runway. This was expected, as it's been done ... on every Project Runway. The surprise is that Anthony Ryan picks new BFF Joshua to help him ... and Josh says no.
Unfortunately, it's not bitchiness that keeps Josh from offering his services (which would have been believable), it's something far more ... understandable. He's just ... tired.
Emilio chooses Althea, and Uli chooses Casanova, who apparently must be in a "dark place" too.
Let's take a look at how each of the designers fared!
ANTHONY RYAN - As much as I love Anthony (and you know I do), I was underwhelmed by this collection. Too much of the same, just in different patterns. The judges loved his first look, but that collar frightened me. It looked like it cut someone. And with the open back, the design looked half schoolmarm, half flamenco dancer.
EMILIO - A wonderful near-miss. If Emilio had more time to work on this ambitious project, I'm sure it would have come together, but as it is, it looks ... unfinished. It looks like "Journey Of A Red Bow."
ULI - This should have been the winning collection. Even though some of the styling on the models did resemble "Crackhead Tilda Swinton," this was beautifully varied and imaginative, and the collection just had more "pop" than the two guys.
So congratulations to Anthony! There's been a lot of Anthony hate about his win, but he was consistent throughout the entire season, and I think that consistency is what brought him the crown, even if his final collection was disappointing. Below you can see Anthony's final thoughts.
So what do you think about Anthony's win? Who had the best final collection?
