Bad news if you were looking forward to seeing a Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek share the screen again. It turns out Kaczmarek will appear in a DVD extra... or maybe it's good news? I mean, what if they're planning a Breaking Bad/Malcolm in the Middle mash-up for the DVDs?
This pilot season's ridiculous idea is a series based on Disneyland's Big Thunder Railroad ride, which will follow a 19th century family who moves from New York City to a frontier mining town. That means I can look forward to Adventure Thru Inner Space: The Series, right? ABC also ordered a pilot for a soap that will make use of the classic, public domain horror characters like Dracula and Dorian Grey.
As we're getting closer to the day of national mourning that the series finale of 30 Rock will bring, critics are finding ways to pay tribute to the show. NPR's Linda Holmes notes how the show resisted the idea of the fantasy, perfect romance, taking a more realistic approach to relationships where you throw out the checklist for your ideal mate and learn to be happy with someone who's just fun to be around.
Meanwhile, Ben & Jerry's will pay tribute to the 30 Rock with a special ice cream flavor, which will be announced Thursday night. That seems like good timing since that's when people with good taste will need a pint of ice cream to go with their tears.
On a related note, Vulture asks if New Girl is poised to become the best sitcom on television. With 30 Rock ending and so many other great comedies facing uncertain futures, there's an opportunity, and New Girl has been steadily improving.
According to TVLine, Felicia Day will be making a return appearance to Supernatural. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, the episode is setting up a spin-off about a crime-fighting duo made up of a computer hacker and her fairy girlfriend.
By now I hope everyone has had a chance to see last Sunday's Downton Abbey and the surprising death. (Memo to myself: buy more tissues.) In the UK, it was a true shock since the show managed to keep spoilers from leaking. Even better, The Sunday Mirror thought it was spoiling the happier events of the episode, making the surprise even bigger.
With a new boss, CNN is making some changes, handing Soledad O'Brien's morning show over to Erin Burnett and Chris Cuomo as well as dropping punditsErick Erickson, James Carville and Mary Matalin.

In an encouraging sign, the second episode of The Followinggained viewers in the younger demo while the third episode of The Carrie Diaries reached a series high.
Bad news for Dallas, the soap's second season premiere drew 2.98 million viewers a drop from the series'premiere (6.9 million) and the first season finale (4.29 million). On the other hand, Justified's recent season premiere series high.

Sam and Dean have to face their past when they meet a man who claims to be their grandfather, Henry Winchester, visiting from the past as part of his search for a demon. Since Supernatural doesn't usually make continuity mistakes that are hard to overlook, I'm going to expect a good explanation for why Sam and Dean aren't running into someone from their mother's side of the family.

The CW is delivering the new wave and pastel fashions of the 80s with The Carrie Diaries, tonight FX brings viewers the paranoia and fear of The Cold War with this drama about a pair of KGB spies (Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys) who have spent the past sixteen years posing as the typical American family pursuing the suburban dream. With luck, this series will last long enough for us to see the family torn apart by the airing of Amerika.
