A Chrismas movie with Carrie Fisher, Hallmark better let It's Christmas, Carol! reach its potential.

News

Eddie Izzard is joining the list of actors who have participated in multiple Bryan Fuller shows. EW has the scoop that Izzard will play a guest role on Hannibal as a patient at the hospital where Hanibal Lecter will eventually be imprisoned.

TV Guide and Vulture have put together their list of characters they'd like to see one more time before 30 Rock's final act. Who do you want to return? I'm shocked neither list has Kim Jong-Il.

CBS wants even more Elementary. It's ordered two more episodes. There was also bad news for Vegas fans, which will get one less episode to tell its story.

Aaron Sorkintells Newsweek while he finds the General Petraeus scandal would make for a compelling story, it won't be a part of Newsroom's second season, which was already planned out by the time the scandal broke.

TiVo signed Tim Tebow to appear in their ads. I'm bracing myself now for TiVo to become a product people buy because they think its a form of political expression.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that MTV has ordered new series from the creator of Awkward.Hot Mess follows a woman who understands the "rules" of dating but can't stick with them and generally sabotages herself to make her life a hot mess.

Starz's pirate drama Black Sails has added several cast members including Shameless alum Zach McGowan. It'll be a shame if Black Sails doesn't offer plenty of male nudity.

NBC has ordered four more episodes of Guys with Kids, giving the series a 17-episode first season.

Bad news, Whitneyfansfan viewers who don't think its that bad, the comedy's return drew similar ratings to the cancelled Animal Practice, which Whitney replaced.

Friday's Listings

Anderson Live (syndicated) Check local listings
It's another Frugal Friday and Cynne Simpson is making a return appearance as guest-host while the faboo Judy Greer visits for a chat.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Vantessa Williams is visiting to help celebrate Ellen's tenth anniversary..

America's Next Top Model (CW) 8:00 PM ET
This season has been a little heavier on the crazy, so why not end it with a runway show at a home that is said to be haunted. Sadly, I see no mention of a guest-appearance by the Ghost Facers.

Malibu Country (ABC) 8:30 PM ET
We finally get an answer to all those "Why isn't Lily Tomlin getting more screen time?" questions as Lillie Mae gets a secret admirer this week.

Degrassi (Teen Nick) 9:00 PM ET
After all the gay male characters Degrassi has depicted, it's great to see the teen drama tackle an issue like body image from a gay character's perspective, especially in the context of a larger guy like Tristan having a crush on a fit guy like Fab. This week sees Tristan dive into crash diets and increasingly-intense workouts. I just hope this isn't an issue that easily goes away for Tristan. In real life those insecurities stick around for the rest of your life, even if you manage to make yourself look like you could appear on the cover of Men's Health.

Grimm (NBC) 9:00 PM ET
It's time for the Grimm fall finale and a break from NBC trying to make "Thank Grimm It's Friday!" happen. As is fitting for a finale, there's plenty of good material for a cliffhanger, like Adalind's return to Portland as well as Monroe being thrown into Captain Renard and Juliette's secret.

Saturday's Listings

The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 11:00 PM ET
This week Graham is talking with cyclist Bradley Wiggins, Cameron Diaz, comedian Sarah Millican and rock icon Rod Stewart.

Saturday Night Live (NBC) 11:30 PM ET
This week, we've got Jeremy Renner hosting and musical guest Maroon 5. I think that means to take your bets on who's going to deliver more hotness.

Rove LA (TV Guide) Midnight ET
In addition to Kate Walsh and Maggie Grace, Rove will be talking with Eric Idle. I hope he ends up talking about that new Graham Chapman movie.

Sunday's Listings

The Dust Bowl (PBS) Check local listings
Ken Burns' latest documentary takes a look at one of the biggest natural disasters the U.S. has faced. Based on the other Dust Bowl documentary I've seen, you might want to tune in only if you can handle watching the history we're sadly working to repeat.

The Simpsons (Fox) 8:00 PM ET
Homer's new buddy (Steve Carrell) turns out to be Fat Tony's accountant — just in time for him to take over the mob while Fat Tony is stuck on jury duty. Meanwhile, Lisa tries to see if eating bugs can help her make up for the lack of protein in her vegetarian diet. (Clearly this meat-eater needs to share some tofu recipes with a cartoon character.)

The American Music Awards (ABC) 8:00 PM ET
Are the American Music Awards just MTV's VMAs for people who don't have cable, as the AV Club's tolerability index suggests? I'd like to think that just raises the bar for a performer list that includes Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, No Doubt, Pink and Christina Aguilera.

It's Christmas, Carol! (Hallmark) 8:00 PM ET
In addition to having the best name for one of the gajillion retellings of A Christmas Carol out there (why hasn't this title been used sooner?), Hallmark's latest entry in the sub-sub-genre has Carrie Fisher as the ghost who haunts the story's miserly businesswoman (the Carol of the title), while Carson Kressley is one of Carol's oppressed employees. So sometime next year, we're going to see a Christmas Carol story with a thinly-vieled Mitt Romney in the Scrooge role, right?

The Amazing Race (CBS) 8:30 PM ET
Oh. Wow. Just as we're trying to figure out how this whole last place alliance is supposed to work (so.... they're going to work together and have a footrace to the mat? they're going to dare Phil to eliminate them both or declare a non-elimination leg? Another team messes up and threatens to make that whole question moot. I can't wait to see where this goes — at least we know Team Chippendale is sticking around for at least one more leg — I'm having so much fun with Jaymes' sense of humor.

Holiday Spin (Lifetime) 9:00 PM ET
Lifetime's entry to the Sunday-night holiday movie has Ralph Macchio as Ruben, a retired ballroom-dancer-turned-instuctor who finds himself raising a son he hasn't seen since birth. However, when Ruben's star student drops out of the "Holiday Spin" dance competition, guess who has to learn how to dance well enough to win the cash prize that will save Ruben's dance studio? If the plot gets a bit predictable, you can enjoy some dramatic ballgowns and the promise of a shirtless scene for Garrett Clayton.

The Walking Dead (AMC) 9:00 PM ET
Okay, why are Michonne and Andrea friends? The Walking Dead has improved its characterization this season, but this friendship has remained a mystery, especially since the relationship has mostly consisted of Michonne being right and Andrea dragging down Michonne's awesomeness. Now that they've been separated since Andrea was (almost literally) a day late in realizing that something's wrong with Woodburry, this week she's jumping over the wall to find her pal.

American Dad (Fox) 9:30 PM ET
After his stepfather dies, Stan invites his mother (Swoosie Kurtz) to move in and... well, what do you expect to happen between Stan's mom and Stan's charming, unrelated permanent houseguest? That's right, Stan's getting a new stepfather.

The Good Wife (CBS) 9:30 PM ET
The Lockhart Gardner team tries to deal with a judge (Judd Hirsch) who is pretty openly biased against their client — so how do they get him off their case without making him too furious?

The Mentalist (CBS) 10:30 PM ET
For those of you who want to relive your fond memories of Ida Blankenship on Sunday nights or just create yourself a Karate Kid-themed night of programming (with Holiday Spin), this week's episode has an appearance by Randee Heller.

What will you be watching this weekend? Please share in the comments!
