With 76% of gay votes going to President Obama, the GLBT population was instrumental in his reelection. The study notes that those who identify as GLBT is growing, as only 1.9% of those over 65 identify as GLBT, while 3.2% of those between 30-49 do, but a whopping 6.4% between 18-29 do. The GLBT population also tends to be more dispersed than the Latino and Asian-American population, providing boosts in metro areas as well as swing states.

In one of those scary things, colleges that provide e-textbooks now have the option of monitoring how the students use the books– how much they read, highlight and take notes, which can identify students with lower engagement with the material for extra help. Three universities have signed on to a pilot program.

WalMart workers across the country are threatening to not show up for work for Black Friday, leaving the giant retailer shorthanded for the biggest shopping day of the year. They cite poor pay, working conditions and lack of Image may be NSFW.

Partners
benefits as the reason for the strike.

If you've been wondering why Partners has been hanging on even though the ratings mean that CBS should have cancelled it already (and CBS is brutal with cancellations), the leading theory is that CBS head Nina Tassler likes the show. Left unsaid is how it helps get her off the hook for the network's dismal representation of gay characters on television, and the tendency of journalists to call her out on it, over and over.

In Barnesville, MN, a teenager posted a picture of himself on Facebook with an anti-gay marriage sign modified to show his support for equality. He was then denied confirmation in the Catholic Church he's attended all of his life. His friends that "liked" the picture were all confirmed. Now his family wonders if he'll even be eligible to be buried with them.

Speaking of love from the Catholic Church, they spent over $2 million fighting equality in this last election. Of the $11.3 million spent opposing equality, they chipped in $2 million that could have been used to tend to the poor, or pay settlements on all the pedophilia cases that are pending.Image may be NSFW.

Robert DeNiro

Who exactly doesn't return Robert DeNiro's calls? How about Jay-Z, who had promised to do a song for the TriBeCa Film Festival. DeNiro called him six times, and never got a call back, so he confronted him about it at Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday party. Beyonce tried to jump in to defend her boo, but DeNiro wasn't having it.

Bryan Singer has promised via Twitter that just because he's back at the helm of X-Men, he's not going to bring back the often-mocked black leather outfits from the early films.

Gap
when the self-righteous turn out to be less than righteous. Tennessee Rep. Scott DesJarlais, who proclaimed himself “a consistent supporter of pro-life values," had his divorce proceedings from 2001 unsealed yesterday. It revealed the divorced doctor supported his ex-wife through two abortions, encouraged a mistress to have an abortion, and had affairs with two patients, three coworkers, and a drug representative while he was still practicing medicine. It actually gets worse from there.

Take a moment to go watch the latest Gap holiday ad, which features same-sex couples including Rufus Wainwright and his husband Jorn Weisbrodt. Cue One Million Moms boycotting in 3-2-1.

For the record, Aaron Sorkin's biopic about Steve Jobsis only three scenes, each backstage before a major product launch.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson knows that launching a marriage equality foundation around bow ties might be a challenge, since most of the country doesn't know how to tie a bow tie, so he wants to teach you how it's done. "Wants to" being the key phrase.

I really know nothing about The Mortal Instruments beyond the description with the trailer, which says that a young girl discovers that she's a demon hunter and can see a shadow world that overlaps with the human world. The book was a bestseller, so it has potential to be the next Twilight, since everyone is searching for the next Twilight.

I'm much more excited about Rise of the Guardians, which has childhood characters like Jack Frost, Santa, the Easter Bunny and Sandman uniting to protect the children of the world from evil. It's a wild idea, with violent versions of the characters, but that's what makes it so exciting. And much like Jack Frost, who wouldn't want to ride in Santa's sleigh?

This is kittens watching tennis. Or a laser pointer with tennis playing in the background, which is probably more likely, but the narrative isn't as good then.

There's some question as to whether this Doritos Marriage ad is sanctioned by Doritos, but it's important to note that Doritos has always encouraged outsiders to create ads for their product, and even holds an annual contest for the Super Bowl for fan ads. I bet the conservatives never thought marriage equality would lead to human/snack food marriages.

There's a new trailer for On the Road, with Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart. I'm paying attention to this since we already know there's nudity, at least one male/male/female sex scene, as well as one gay scene with Steve Buscemi getting tagged from behind. But can these actors pull off such an epic tale?

Kellan Lutz is the latest star to get in on the idea that social media can be overdone in our lives, with his take on James Bond with Agent Hashtag, who keeps publishing his location and kills. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the wave of anti-social media spoofs.

Ellen takes on Gaydar and questions not only the accuracy of such of thing, but also whether you need it in the age of TMZ.

Finally, just for fun, look what the cast of the Big Bang Theory treated the studio audience to at a recent taping. Bazinga!
