Canadian channel MuchMusic (or is it just Much now?) has decided to pass on a third season of the critically-acclaimed L.A. Complex. Technically, the series isn't dead yet — the CW could keep it alive (which seems unlikely considering the ratings) and the series' production company is looking to see if another Canadian network might pick it up. As much as I'm saddened by this news, at least The L.A. Complex' last episode would make for a solid closing chapter.
Deadline breaks the word on a couple of amazing bits of recurring casting — S. Epatha Merkerson has joined Deception (that's NBC's upcoming soap where rich people suffer for ignoring the help) while Jere Burns will play a mysterious character on Bates Motel.
Howard Stern announced on his radio show that he'll be returning as a judge on America's Got Talent. I have to admit, Stern wasn't quite the refreshing change of pace I hoped he would be, but he was a solid judge. Too bad his debut season was dragged down by a lot of lackluster performances.
VH1 is developing a reality show that sounds like a cross between Joe Schmoe and The Millionaire Matchmaker, based on Deadline's description of Making Mr. Right. The series will follow 14 guys who think they're on a dating show but are being turned into the series' hosts' idea of Mister Right.
Denis O'Hare will appear on an episode of Law & Order: SVUaccording to TV Guide. He'll play Father Shea, the same character he played on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
The BBC is planning to adaptJ.K. Rowling's novel The Casual Vacancy into a TV series expected to air sometime in 2014.
Piper Perabo is set to appear in a three-episode arc on Go On as a love interest for Matthew Perry, according to Deadline. I never gave Perabo a chance based on her movie career, I'm glad she's getting a better showcase thanks to her Covert Affairs role.
With 30 Rock's final episode coming, NBC is making sure to keep Alec Baldwin around. Deadline reports the network has signed him to a two-year deal that will include trying to find a new show for him.
Portlandiaannounced another guest-appearance for the upcoming season: No Doubt will show up in a so-far undisclosed role.
Newsroom has cast Joel Johnstone to play a Mitt Romney campaign staffer, The Hollywood Reporter reports. We're going to get at least one episode where he smugly insists that the polls point to a Romney landslide, aren't we? Suddenly, I mind Newsroom's 20/20 hindsight a little less.
The midseason finale of The Walking Deaddrew 10.5 million viewers, making it Sunday's top show — and that's before you count people who watched either of the repeats or people who watched on their DVR.
Meanwhile, it looks like Bravo has a definite hit with The Shahs of Sunset. The second season debuted with double the audience that first checked out the series when it made its debut last March.

Maybe attending a Christmas party hosted by a "realtor to the stars" (Marlo Thomas) will mend things. Or just a little more bourbon in the egg nog.
