So. John Mayer, fresh from ending his fling with Katy Perry, chopped off all his hair and is looking hot again, instead of like a homeless person.John Mayer

Mitt Romney hasn't had a good time with music this campaign. Most artists have asked him to stop using their music, like Rage Against the Machine and Dee Snider. Hurricane Isaac caused the Lynyrd Skynard concert at the convention to be canceled. And then rumors circulated that he'd paid Journey $500,000 to perform. It wasn't him, it was actually a private group, Liberty Plaza, that hired Journey.

In what has to be the first sign of the coming apocalypse foreseen by the Mayans, Snooki gave birth to a son this weekend.

Two members of Pussy Riot have fled Russia in the wake of the conviction of three members of the collective for hooliganism.

Former Republican Florida Governor Charlie Crist has come out – in favor of President Obama. "President Obama has a strong record of doing what is best for America and Florida, and he built it by spending more time worrying about what his decisions would mean for the people than for his political fortunes. That's what makes him the right leader for our times, and that's why I'm proud to stand with him today."

Katy PerryWe might not yet have flying cars or hover boards, but we're a step closer to Star Wars speeder bikes thanks to a company called Aerofex. Right now they can only manage about 30 MPH, but they're stable, and fly based on balance, not complex electronics.

There's a report out that Katy Perry turned down a $20 million offer from American Idol. And that was just the budget for her whipped cream.

While it's fun that io9.com is so freaked out that a 100 million year old dinosaur footprint was found on the grounds of Goddard Space Center in Maryland, I'm totally disappointed that they didn't make a Doctor Who "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" reference. Bad geeks.

Anti-gay Maryland state delegate Don Dwyer, Jr., who last year said gays were a danger to children and society, got drunk and crashed his boat into another boat filled with children, four of whom were seriously injured.

Rupert Murdoch is going soft. Despite his own newspaper being the only British paper to publish the naked pictures of Prince HarryPrince Harry, the mogul says "Prince Harry. Give him a break. He may be on the public payroll one way or another, but the public loves him, even to enjoy Las Vegas. Only lesson for Prince Harry: avoid playmates with cameras!”

Snoop Dog Lion says that hip hop is ready for a gay superstar. “People are learning how to live and get along more, and accept people for who they are and not bash them or hurt them because they’re different.”

French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault says that his country will send a bill to the National Assembly and the Senate in October to allow for marriage equality. Expect the church to fight it tooth and nail.

Justin HawkinsWhile Justin Hawkins of The Darkness says “My sexual persuasion is no one’s business but my own – but I’m easily persuaded. Just kidding," he does think that his band does something that connects with gay fans. “It’s funny because it came up recently in a German interview. They reckoned that when you Google Justin Hawkins, one of the first things that comes up is ‘Is Justin Hawkins gay?’And I’d like to think that’s because there’s something I do that connects with a gay audience.”

The latest reason that Mitt Romney won't release his tax returns? He doesn't think that his Mormon tithing should be made public, that it's a private thing between him and his church.

Logo's Jonathan D. Lovitz has been getting some new shots done, tho this one in particular caught my eye. I want to know how he keeps a body like that being married to the owner of Schmakery's Bakery?

There is nothing I don't love about this shot

Colton Haynes has also been working with Tony Duran on some new shots, though not as showy

I love that Jonathan Knight takes time to just sit on his terrace. My deck misses me

I have mastered this. This is my skill

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita took in Into the Woods, which is what all the cool people are seeing this summer.

Have you heard Nick Adams is headed to The X Factor?

Synchronized penguins make me happy

Neil Patrick Harris pimps Neuro on the beach. A friend of his owns the company

My Olympic crush Sam Mikaluk tattooed his Olympic glory large and proud. And red

Out Irish hurler (I still need to watch that on YouTube, no idea what the game is like) Donal Óg Cusack gave a speech at Foyle Pride. It's worth listening to the whole thing, but the best passage (via Queerty) is "If out of curiosity you come to see me play and can’t pick me out because we all wear helmets I’ll be the one just in front of the loudmouth on the terrace with the megaphone. He’ll be singing he’s gay/he’s bent/his ass is up for rent/ Dónal Óg/Dónal Óg. People around him will be looking embarrassed and I’ll be staring up the field. Not giving a f*ck.” So. not a single f*ck will be given on game day.

Humans tend to think themselves masters of the world in which they live. But just how much can we effect it? What if we all, 7 billion of us, got together, and jumped at the same time. Would the earth care, or even notice? This video seeks to answer that question, and appears to be endorsed by Felicia Day.

Diesel put dogs in sunglasses, and they look better in the sunglasses than I probably would. You'd never see a cat getting glamor shots in sunglasses. Cats can't be bothered with fashion.

There's something oddly appealing about Band of Heroes' "Knock Knock." Doing the whole video like the band was a herd of animals, 1970s documentary style appealed to me somehow. The song isn't bad either.

I found the short film Sight over at Towleroad. It's an interesting extrapolation of what could be done with the technology behind Google's Glass, once it became a zillion times more powerful. But would it always be used for good? It's worth watching to the end.

Let's say your name is David, and you happen to work for a top SFX company. Should you really be all that trusting when the office gets you a big birthday cake? The answer is probably not.
